COMPLIANCE MONITORING MANAGER – Assurance

 This is a new exciting position to manage and provide key support in relation to the effective delivery of a New modern compliance monitoring framework, supporting the overall compliance and regulatory framework changes within a leading Life company. This role will involve working closely cross departments of the sales and operations, risk and regulatory management team and senior management within the wider Group to deliver key objectives and regulatory requirements.

 

The Role:

  • Manage a team of five to deliver the monitoring plan to compliance Plan 2017 schedule
  • Assist in drafting and documenting monitoring procedures, sampling methodologies to appropriate standards
  • Ensure thematic reviews and regular monitoring feedback is of appropriate standard
  • Feed into regular reporting cycle and Compliance committees
  • Ensure monitoring teams outputs reflect risk profile of business and messaging received at appropriate level
  • Be the subject matter expert on Domestic Life Assurance and Pensions regulations: Solvency II, CPC, F&P, IMD etc
  • Ensure team has resources and competencies to deliver to plan
  • Remain up to date with upstream legislation and risk challenges facing the organisation
  • Delivery of periodic and thematic monitoring elements of the Compliance plan

  

The person:

  •  Five+ years’ experience in financial services/insurance with strong technical understanding of regulatory environment
  • Three years in an existing compliance Monitoring / Audit role with Life & pensions industry experience but not priority
  • Strong organisational skills to plan and re-plan monitoring agenda as required in changing environment
  • Ability to work with the fine detail and see the ‘big picture’ while effectively communicating regulatory changes to a non-technical audience
  • Professional qualification (ACOI or other relevant discipline) would be preferable.
  • Team management experience with an ability to balance attention to detail, to ensure accurate reporting and reconciliation, and also to see the bigger picture.
  • Ability to work with the fine detail and see the ‘big picture’ while effectively communicating technical concepts to a non-technical audience
  • Highly-organised and self-motivated individual with ability to prioritise effectively and work independently
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong analytical and report-writing skills to all levels within the Company
  • Knowledge of domestic Life Assurance and Pensions regulations: (Solvency II, CPC etc F&P, IMD) with a proven ability to provide close support to senior management
