Regulatory Controls Manager – Insurance

This is a new exciting position to manage and provide key support in relation to the effective delivery of a new modern Regulatory Controls framework, embed the Compliance Risk Framework & associated policies / processes across the business within a leading Life company. This role will involve working closely cross departments of the sales and operations, risk and regulatory management team and senior management within the wider Group to deliver key objectives and regulatory requirements.

The Role:

  • Work with the business teams throughout the Company to ensure their effective implementation of key areas of policy / regulation including CPC, Financial Crime (incl. Conduct/Sales Quality, BCM, IT risks, Conflicts of Interest Solvency II, Data Protection, Pensions Act etc.)
  • Work across the Company, engaging with all levels of management, to provide subject matter expertise in the delivery of key areas of control enhancement including Sourcing, Product Governance, Change
  • Ensure appropriate level of knowledge transfer, including the delivery of training and awareness initiatives, to the business teams to enhance their knowledge and ownership of regulatory risks
  • Guide the business team in the enhancement of key regulatory risk indicators aligned to the Company’s Risk Appetite Statement
  • Interface with the 2nd LOD Regulatory Compliance team in the delivery of key regulatory requirements including upstream regulatory changes and the overall regulatory agenda impacting the business.


The Person:

  • 5+years relative experience in a similar role  or expert in typical areas of interest ( CPC , Conduct/Sales Quality, Sourcing, BCM, IT risks, Product risk) within the insurance or Financial services industry
  • Strong understanding of the application of appropriate risk management methodologies within the business.
  • Highly-organised and self-motivated individual with ability to prioritise effectively and work independently.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong analytical and communication skills to all levels within the Company.
  • Excellent understanding of the local and European regulatory environment incl. Solvency II.
  • A proven ability to provide close support and practical assistance to senior management.
  • The ability to work laterally across all business areas / processes and to act as a centre of regulatory advice with the business

Working closely across the wider group senior management and reporting directly to the Head of Business Control, this is an ideal opportunity for a professional currently in a similar positon or looking to move in to a more compliance risk or regulatory based career and enjoy the responsibility for implementing, monitoring and assuring the operation of key regulatory controls.
